Welcome to The Society of Professional Obituary Writers (SPOW), an international organization created for folks who write about the dead for a living.
Since 2007, the society has provided professional training and resources to help writers develop reporting, interviewing, writing and new media skills for creating outstanding obituaries.
Members are journalists who create obituaries for newspapers, magazines, wire services, radio stations, television stations, cable outlets and online news services as well as historians, journalism educators and former obituary-writing reporters and retirees.
Please Note: Membership is temporarily closed. We'll be accepting new members after the pandemic ends.
